British tennis star Emma Raducanu ends this year's campaign and will keep trainer for 2026.

Britain's Emma Raducanu will not compete in the last two tournaments of the year due to a health issue that has affected her in recent days.

At 22 years old was due to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to recover ahead of launching plans for the 2026 season.

These plans will include coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round versus Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the final set in the match with Zhu due to the lower back problem that has troubled her on several occasions in 2025.

Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the top 30 globally after more than three years since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in round three in the Beijing tournament last month.

The player achieved 28 victories during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami event in March.

Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way then falling in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She was coached by Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.

The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the partnership will continue, with planned training sessions in the coming months.

The athlete revealed that her three-day trial alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She nearly succeeded to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati in August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three then falling to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
