Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Table

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, demons, and sinister influences growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The traitor then cleared his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the group enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Questers and Planners groups.

Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
