David Raya Praises Squad Depth as Key to Silverware Pursuit

David Raya has emphasized that fierce rivalry for first-team spots is fueling Arsenal's exceptional performance, with the keeper believing that the squad's depth under Mikel Arteta is so incredible that they can contend for multiple honors throughout the campaign.

Dominant Wins Highlight The Gunners' Strength

Arsenal's latest comprehensive win over Atlético Madrid marked their sixth straight victory and tenth triumph in 12 matches. With only three goals conceded—a record low at this point in the team's legacy—Arsenal have established a one-point lead at the top of the table and a perfect record in the European competition after three matches.

Rotation and Depth Key to Success

Raya has started in nearly every game, aside from one Carabao Cup encounter, but Arteta has frequently changed the team following significant summer investment on recruits. When asked about chasing multiple trophies, he said, "Yes, I think so. The depth is incredible. We have numerous options who can excel in multiple positions."

For instance, against Atlético, Mikel Merino was introduced as a forward and is capable of playing as a No 8 or No 10. That versatility is available to the manager, and he's using it to our advantage. Things appear very, very good, and this roster strength is very important for us.

Competition Elevates Performance

Raya added, "That provides an additional edge in practice and games because if you're not at it, you can lose in a fraction of a second. It creates intense rivalry in sessions and on the pitch, which is vitally significant, and everyone is on board."

Defensive Solidity a Collective Effort

The team have let in just a single goal from regular play so far, and the keeper has had to deal with a mere one attempt in their last three wins against three opponents.

"Everyone contributes from the forwards to the goalie," he said. "Everyone is focused, no one wants to concede, and the goal is to cut out passes prior to it crossing the halfway line. By winning it back, we can launch a fast break. It's crucial for the entire team to understand that way, and we're not allowing many chances, which is perfect."
