Ex- Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

The Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

A senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

These allegations come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors said the forty-five charges comprise:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities are urging individuals with information to contact the relevant police force.
