Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for doubts to be asked about his future following a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the club's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got significant backing from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I sense the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Player Response

Slot highlighted known failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a phase such as this with results like these.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
