Star Refutes Anti-Vax Position After Lending His Voice To Disputed Covid Documentary

The "Taken" star has lent his vocal talents to a feature-length documentary that questions the efficacy of vaccines and lauds former health official Robert F Kennedy Jr.

The Film's Contentious Origins

Called "Plague of Corruption," the project is inspired by a bestselling book written by Judy Mikovits, who rose to infamy during the global outbreak for claims that the virus was caused by a faulty batch of the flu vaccine.

The book's writing partner, Kent Heckenlively, has also written books with far-right radio host Alex Jones. The producer recently posted celebrating Neeson's participation in the documentary.

An Unequivocal Statement

The team of Neeson have provided a response pushing back against implications that he holds anti-vaccine views.

"Everyone can recognize that corruption may occur within the drug industry, but that must not be confused with rejection of vaccines," the comment reads. "Liam never has been, and remains not, anti-vaccination. His long work with the UN children's agency reinforces his long-held support for global immunisation initiatives."

It noted that the star was not involved in crafting the film's narrative and that concerns about its assertions are best addressed to the creators.

Major Claims In the Feature

As presented, the narration spoken by Neeson includes several strong statements:

  • It claims that pro-vaccine voices have called for "complete compliance" to government bodies.
  • It argues that "research has become deeply politicised."
  • Robert F Kennedy Jr is shown saying, "The big problem with vaccines is that they just aren't properly vetted."
  • The narration also criticizes stay-at-home orders, arguing they caused psychological harm that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
  • Regarding Covid vaccines, it mentions a report that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "hazardous tests."

Past Controversy and Current Issues

It further cites a historical film about HIV drug testing on children, which was subsequently the subject of a correction by the corporation for editorial breaches.

Recently, Kennedy directed the CDC to alter its long-held position that there is no link between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is repeated in the film, even with a fresh analysis from the World Health Organisation reiterating no evidence has been found.

A Previous Statement of Endorsement

Contrasting the documentary's tone, Neeson has formerly expressed clear advocacy for vaccines in his role as a Unicef global ambassador.

In 2022, he called vaccines as "a remarkable triumph," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in our history."

"Plague of Corruption" ends with Neeson's voice proclaiming, "This marks not the conclusion of our narrative. Rather, it is the dawn of a fresh chapter."
