The American champion Optimistic of Being 'perfectly positioned' for the upcoming Winter Olympics

Alpine star Lindsey Vonn asserts she will be "perfectly prepared" for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, following securing a podium spot for the fourth time in five World Cup competitions.

The veteran athlete, who last week set a record by becoming the oldest downhill World Cup winner, took the bronze position in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This was her one hundred and forty-second career World Cup top-three result.

Impressive Performance in the French Alps

Racing in the iconic venue for the first occasion in eight years, Vonn crossed the line in a time of one minute 20.60 seconds. She was just over a third of a second behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson taking second place.

"I was slightly lacking the right line on the initial jump," Vonn said. "From that point on, I skied well. I'm satisfied with my skiing today, unlike in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was overly cautious."

This performance was her second podium at Val d'Isere over the weekend, having also finished third in the downhill on Saturday.

A Remarkable Comeback from Injury

Vonn officially retired in early 2019 due to persistent injuries. However, she staged a competitive comeback in December 2024 following a major knee surgery.

With less than two months remaining until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which are set to run from February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's performances are highly promising.

She already possesses an Olympic gold and two Olympic bronze medals in her collection and is firmly on track to represent the United States at the next Olympics.

"At the Olympics, I will be in a good place," the athlete confirmed.

Aiming for Further Glory

Alongside her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also aiming to increase the four overall crystal globes she has secured over a professional journey spanning two decades.

She presently enjoys a 69-point lead at the summit of the overall downhill standings and is sitting in fifth place in the overall super-G standings.

This current World Cup circuit includes a total of nine races taking place before the season finals in Kvitfjell, Norway on March 21st, 2026.
