The Reform UK leader Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike within weeks a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by telling students that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I expect a walkout by educators very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union dismissed the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his political career on coded rhetoric and currently, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a conflict,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

However, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves as opposed to what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.

During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to your online courses. I pledge this now and I’ll do that.”

The college, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. It offers these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
